A friend of mine got banned for saying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO in guild chat...
The ban system probably uses a similar system to the dishonor one which automatically throws out a 72'er once you get a certain number of reports to your account...

Finding a complete clean name is like trying to create the most perfect balanced build. It's something to aim for but not something anyone could ever achieve.

ArenaNet needs to define their policy and stand firm on several issues. What I mean by that is they should decide what is and what is not appropriate for their game, so that less idiocy ensues in future. It is, after all, their game. They should decide what is not appropriate beforehand, and take each additional player-raised issue on a case-by-case basis, rather than just playing a "game of chance" - "If you guess a non-offensive name we wont ban you".
I suspect they wont comment since they have "Corsair Seaman" and the like in their game, tied to dodgy-named quests. That would suggest that you could create a character with the word "Seaman" in the name (since it's an already authorised word), yet I suspect if it were reported it would result in a ban and enforced name change. I wonder if this is the reason they decline to comment - they can't decide what sort of name offends other people.

Although you're right that a completely clean name is difficult to achieve, if people stopped using "sentences" as "names" we wouldn't have this problem in the first place. It's supposed to be a character name, not a statement you make to people watching you, such as "I pwned you" (btw it's different on webforums). There's a good reason why giving "stupid" names to babies is illegal ("Hello cup of tea!").
If people want to make statements, they can use All chat or Guru. If you love (or hate) BMWs, GW is not the best place to show it.

Anyone else finds this sad?
A suggestion would be to learn how to use capital letters when needed.

Petition to Change the leech report function to (If you get two or three different reports against you in a "current instance - match/area/mission " you are booted off the team and replaced with a hench of the same class that follows the #1 spot
Well at least for FA /JQ it may help
Name ban is a tricky thing what is good in this country is bad in another so I think the auto machine is the only option for them.
The report feature was an ugly monster unleashed by A-net. Unleashed in good intentions but inturn ended up causing massive havoc for them.

I've noticed an increase in the number of RA bots lately; they are easy to spot because they are written very very badly. The bot was a paragon with a dfsd dsfsx style name and walked forward for about a second, a minute into the match. Didn't do anything, didn't wield any weapons, and didn't even move after its initial forward steps.
For fun, I added the guy to my friends list so I could stalk him. He continued to "play" for a week. Maybe he was banned at the end, maybe the user made a new character, but in any case, a week is far too long for people like that to ruin RA.

If the OP is stating that A-Net ban peoples without reason. I don't think they ban peoples without looking at what is done. Few days ago I was in Grotto and kind of said something inapporiate. Till this day, I haven't got banned yet!

People are more concerned about reporting names that happen to be not to their liking more-so than reporting players that are actually causing an effect regarding hindering their own gameplay. Go figure, shows the real concern of the gw community at heart. Botters, leechers, and griefers are free to do as they please.
